A FINE 8-BORE SINGLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION 'TUBE-LOCK' FOWLING PIECE
circa 1810, converted from flint circa 1840, with browned 36in twist-steel multi-stage barrel, the top-flat signed at breech 'WILLIAM MOORE FROM J MANTON LONDON', gold poincon inlaid in top of breech with makers details, platinum lined breech block, platinum lined vent, 'C'-scroll engraved tang, flat, slightly curved fancy border engraved lock signed 'THO'S JACKSON UPPER GEORGE ST' together with three panels of open feathered scrolls, tube-lock mechanism and hammer en-suite with the lock, highly figured walnut half-stock, finely chequered at wrist with rectangular silver escutcheon above, blued steel furniture, engraved with a game-bird to the heel-plate spur together with scrolls, a game scene to the trigger guard tang and a hunting pointer to the bow, silver take-down wedge escutcheons, horn forend tip and original ebony, brass-mounted ramrod, the whole remaining in exceptional condition with the majority of its original finish and colour
