RED DEER 12 POINT ANTLER HEAD,

Product Details

RED DEER 12 POINT ANTLER HEAD, taken at Mark-Berg 1951.

Provenance: This and the following 7 lots of stag and buck antler trophies were all stalked by Mr. Leo Ritchie, the author of the book entitled "Reminiscences of Woodland Stalking" published in 1989, in which he describes some of the most memorable deer stalks, hare shoots and boar hunts. The foreword was written by his good friend Richard Prior, who is himself a well known author on deer.
Leo Ritchie was fortunate to have the opportunity to practice his craft throughout Germany, Italy and Austria during the 1920's and 1930's over some of the most prestigious forested estates owned by members of the European aristocracy. After WWII he settled in England in the county of Sussex, and established his own woodland estate.
During his long life Leo Ritchie continued to stalk in England, Scotland and Wales, as well as Europe, and amassed a large collection of fine examples of red, fallow, and in particular, roe antlers, as catalogued below.
