A RARE 8mm CONTINENTAL BELLOWS AIR-GUN SIGNED J. HOYER,
circa 1790, with 30in. smooth-bore brass-lined octagonal barrel (probably converted from an earlier example), dovetailed blade front sight, dovetailed adjustable rearsight, signed 'J HOYER' on the top-flat, border-engraved gold-washed breech-end, brass tang mounted with adjustable aperture sight, hollow walnut full-stock concealing bellows mechanism, spindle for crank with decorative brass escutcheon on right hand side at toe, brass heel-plate decorative brass plates to raised cheek-piece, brass finger-grooved trigger guard, 'hogs-bristle' trigger with rear set, barrel release catch forward of trigger guard, further fancy brass escutcheons for side-nails and take-down wedge, horn forend tip, brass ramrod thimbles and replacement ramrod (stock renovated with numerous old cracks and repairs, many screws modern replacements) TOGETHER WITH a sympathetic modern replacement wood and brass mounted crank.
