dated for 1862, with heavy octagonal 26 1/2in barrel, dovetailed blade foresight and long-tailed adjustable rearsight, makers details and date inlaid in silver to the top-flat, silver inlaid scrolls and line at breech, scroll engraved long top-tang, flat border-lined and scroll engraved unsigned lock with an inlaid silver boar to the tail, roller safety forwards of the hammer, walnut full-stock chequered at the wrist, fancy inlet iron patch-box to right hand side of stock engraved with scroll and border-line decoration and inlaid with a silver fox, cast nickel crescent heel-plate with scroll engraving, raised cheek-piece on the left hand side with carved scrolls behind, nickel, scrolled end trigger guard, double set trigger, nickel ramrod pipes, the front one with 'hook', horn forend tip and brass mounted ebony ramrod (iron surfaces stained and mildly pitted throughout)
