circa 1840, possibly converted from flintlock, with re-browned 30in barrels, the top-rib signed 'W & C SCOTT & SON, 7 DORSET PLACE, PALL MALL EAST, LONDON. BEST LAMINATED STEEL', scroll engraved and gold lined breech with platinum plugs, later common pattern nipples, scroll and shell engraved top-tang with additional scroll engraved tang-plates, flat, slightly curved locks with fancy border and scroll engraving, signed 'W & C SCOTT & SON', finely scroll engraved hammers with sunbursts around the spindle screws, 'Smith's' type removable hammer-noses, figured walnut chequered half-stock, blued, engraved steel furniture, original nickel-silver mounted ramrod (re-finished throughout, locks brushed bright) TOGETHER WITH a fine period mahogany guncase, compartmented and lined in green baize with a full compliment of accessories including an unusual brass nipple-pricker, a ivory mounted tool for removing 'Smith's' type nipples, two flasks and a capper
