No.2 of a pair, 28in. nitro reproved barrels with sunken rib, rib inscription indistinct, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. choke in both, toplever gold-inlaid '2', removable striker discs, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, triggers to suit the left hand, the action, lockplates and furniture profusely engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork, brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 14 1/2in. boldly-figured cast on replacement stock including 3/4in. rubber recoil pad and 3/8in. ebonite spacer, fore-end with gold diamond-shaped escutcheon engraved '2', weight 6lb. 9oz., in a brass-cornered oak and leather hammergun case with gold-tooled George Gibbs trade label
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was made as No.2 of a pair of 'Best Quality Ejectors with Southgate ejector work' for The Hon. C. A'Court in 1907.
