A 7.63 (MAUSER) SEMI-AUTOMATIC TEN-SHOT PISTOL, MODEL 1898 'LARGE-RING HAMMER', serial no. 31535,
circa 1899, with blued, sighted 5 1/2in. barrel, tangent rear-sight graduated to 1000 metres, internal magazine, the frame deeply stamped and dented with a South African registration number on the left hand side, wood grips with 34 grooves and lanyard ring to base (the whole retaining the majority of its original finish), TOGETHER WITH its matching number shoulder stock-holster amateurly carved with a banner carrying the name 'E.C. ZUNCKEL', another with the letters 'SIM' and the monogram 'TE' (iron parts lightly corroded, wood scuffed, large proportion of end-cover missing)

Provenance: The vendor informs us that this pistol was carried by his Grandfather during the Battle of Collenza whilst fighting for the British during the Boer War
