WINNER AT THE LONDON GUN TRIALS 1875, 1877, 1878 & 1879', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and full choke, action incorporating aspects of J.V. Needham 1874 patent ejector system, patent No. 1205, use number 420, 1873 patent crossbolt, hold-open toplever with 'Jumping Jack' return stud, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, protuberated cover plate, fine acanthus scroll engraving, 14 1/4in. well-figured stock, swept at comb and pinned at head, light damage to fore-end wood, weight 6lb. 12oz.
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this rare gun is the eighteenth prototype of the Self Acting Ejector.
