circa 1865, with 3 1/2in. semi-octagonal barrel, the top-flat signed 'E. FLETCHER, 158 WESTGATE ST, GLOUCESTER', the breech marked 'TRANTER'S PATENT', plain cylinder with front notch locking, plain frame with hinged loading gate on the right hand side, chequered walnut grips with iron butt-cap, sheath trigger (traces of finish throughout) TOGETHER WITH its original mahogany and walnut veneer compartmented pistol case, lined in blue baize, trade label for the maker at the above address, retaining a period cleaning rod and turn-screw, three lidded compartments, brass circular escutcheon to lid and lock to front (no key)
