circa 1870, with blued, adjustable sighted octagonal 10 3/4in. barrel, the top flat signed 'ADAMS'S PATENT SMALL ARMS MANUFACTURING COMPANY, 391 STRAND, LONDON', left hand flat engraved 'E. Picton', Belgian proofs, central hammer with yellow metal inlays, rolling breech-block, dark walnut fluted butt with panels carved in relief with foliage to the side-pieces and forend tip, yellow-metal inlaid spire butt-cap, furniture and spurred trigger-guard, double set triggers (much original finish remaining) TOGETHER WITH its original English-style oak, compartmented case lined in blue baize retaining a period brass cleaning rod, the inside of lid with the makers trade label for above address, brass circular escutcheon to lid
