AN UNUSUAL 40-BORE FLINTLOCK MUSKET FROM THE EASTERN MARKET, circa 1800 with possible earlier parts, of Indian manufacture, with a 43 3/4in. round barrel (worn), missing fore-sight, border-lined 'banana' shaped lock in an earlier European style with false signature forwards of the hammer and imitation 'East India Company' marks to the tail, brass decoration to hammer jaw (hammer detached but present), 'hand-rail' teak three-quarter stock with flattened comb in imitation of the 18th century fashion, inlet brass 'sun and moon' decoration (moon missing), wood stamped with arsenal inventory numbers, heel-plate with decorative inlayed brass spur, highly ornate brass trigger-guard tang, trident finial, chased and embossed brass side-plate, three substantial brass barrel-bands, brass nose-cap and thin iron ramrod, the whole heavily cleaned and polished
