28in. nitro reproved damascus barrels, rib engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON. 63 PRINCES STREET. EDINBURGH.' '1', left wall thickness at 18+, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, Dickson patent round-action incorporating patents 9399 and 10621 of 1887, use number 300, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, gold cocking-indicators, profusely engraved with fine scrollwork, brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 15 1/4in. figured replacement stock with engraved steel heel and toe plates, weight 6lb. 1oz., in its canvas and leather motor case with gold-tooled red Dickson trade label.
Provenance: We are kindly informed by the makers that this shotgun was completed as no.1 of a pair with 28in. barrels on 10th July 1890.
