A RARE SILVER-MOUNTED 18-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN, serial no. 951,
with London hall-marks for 1803, converted to percussion circa 1840, with 30in. twist-steel barrels, the top rib inlaid in gold with 'BECKWITH, LONDON', gold fore-sight with inlaid floral motifs, gold lines at breech, platinum plugs, curved bevel-edged border-lined step-tailed lockplates inlaid with gold poincons signed 'BECKWITH', engraved dolphin-headed hammers, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, hallmarked solid silver heel-plate with engraved top-spur, raised tear-drop cheek-piece, border and scroll engraved over-size iron trigger-guard, scrolled skeletal pistol-grip, urn finial, silver take-down wedge escutcheons, silver pineapple ramrod throat and original mahogany ramrod with brass fittings (exposed iron surfaces with some staining and light pitting)
