AN OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE VERY IMPORTANT ARTIFACTS AND PRIMARY SOURCE DOCUMENTS CONCERNING THE 1950'S DEVELOPMENT OF 'ROBERT CHURCHILL'S' LEGENDARY 'ZENITH' OVER & UNDER SHOTGUN, of Robert Churchill's legendary ZENITH Over and Under shotgun. See p 236-250 of THE HOUSE OF CHURCHILL. This Lot includes two 1950s cardboard boxes tied up with string as well as contemporary letters and documents shown below:
a) Box No 1 contains the rough wooden parts, made by actioner Alan Judge, for Robert Churchill's ZENITH Over and Under model shotgun.
b) Box No 2 contains the finished metal parts in various containers including: a smaller cardboard box, a lidless round tin, a round Ronuk floor polish tin, a Lavender wax round tin and an oblong 'Boots' Cherry Cough Pastilles tin.
i) 19 July 1952 - Jesse Hill's report on the successful Birmingham Proof Test of the first ZENITH Over and Under shotgun No 7030.
j) 2 September 1952 - Typed copy of letter from Robert Churchill's good friend, Hugh Pollard giving his opinion on possible problems in registering the ZENITH patent due to the Holland & Holland Over and Under patent of May 1952.
k) Patent No 731,093 published June 1955 and Patent No 741,954 published December 1955 for the ZENITH Over and Under shotgun in the name of Robert Churchill, Abbas Celal and Alan Alfred Victor Judge.
l) Four black and white photographs of Robert Churchill's first famous ZENITH Over and Under shotgun No 7030.
m) March 1983 - Two letters from Geoffrey Boothroyd to Don Masters concerning Boothroyd's research into the ZENITH Over and Under for articles in The Shooting Times and The Double Gun Journal and for his book, THE BRITISH OVER AND UNDER SHOTGUN.
