Canadian, circa 1860, with heavy re-browned triple-staged barrel, the muzzle reduced for a ball-starter, dove-tailed fore-sight with reference marks engraved on the barrel, elevating ladder rear-sight, patent stepped breech, flat, border lined lockplate signed 'W MANTON, MAKER' (possibly refreshed), sliding safe behind the hammer, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, provision for peep-sight (missing), colour-hardened circular patch-box to right hand side of butt, iron furniture, chequered spurred trigger-guard tang, set trigger (set removed) horn fore-end cap, under-rib (slightly loose) with provision for ramrod and replacement wooden ramrod
