probably French, circa 1870, of open frame pinfire form, with 5 1/4in. octagonal barrel, the top-flat signed 'WILLIAM CLARK, MAKER', South African registration mark 'P4465' to underside, Birmingham proofs, spire fore-sight, notch rear-sight, plain cylinder, plain frame with hinged loading gate, flared chequered walnut two-piece grips, lanyard ring at base and plunge-style ejector rod mounted to right hand side of barrel, the whole with traces of finish
