circa 1845, with substantial 5 1/4in. barrel group, each barrel with a nickel bead fore-sight and individually numbered from '1' to '6' at the breech, engraved band at the muzzle, engraved central fastening screw, border and scroll engraved iron action with en-suite nipple shield, engraved off-set hammer, engraved top-bar with built in rear-sight, sliding safe to top-tang, the left-hand sideplate signed 'B. COGSWELL SELF PRIMING SIX SHOT PISTOL, REGISTERED 1378, NO. 9', finely chequered pistol-grip, iron butt-cap with central hinged trap, serial number repeated on bottom tang, scroll engraved trigger-guard bow and side mounted iron belt-hook, iron surfaces with some discolouration and staining, some mild pitting to barrel-group.
