A GOOD PAIR OF 40-BORE FLINTLOCK BRASS-BODIED BOXLOCK POCKET PISTOLS SIGNED 'HAMPTON', no visible serial numbers,
circa 1800, with tapering round iron turn-off 1 1/2in. barrels (frozen), rounded brass bodies signed 'HAMPTON' beneath the pans with shield and trophy engraved side-panels, carved engraved pans with engraved sunbursts beneath, blued frizzen-springs with uncommon double roller-bearings, border engraved frizzens and central hammers, sliding safes to the top-tangs, finely chequered bag-shaped walnut butts with diamond-shaped silver escutcheons at the wrists, engraved and carved brass lion mask grip-caps, blued concealed triggers and Birmingham proofs TOGETHER WITH a later wood travelling case, professionally compartmented and lined in blue baize, the inner lid with small hand-written parchment label stating 'W. HAMPTON, LONDON'
