A COLLECTION OF FOUR PERIOD BOWIE-KNIVES
all mid to late 19th century, the first with unsigned 9 3/4in. clip-point blade decorated along the spine, with an iron and brass-mounted stag-horn grip (no scabbard), the second, similar, the back of blade stamped 'SALEM', with stag-horn cutlery-style hilt with embossed silver pommel (no scabbard), the third with deep 7 1/4in. clip-point crudely formed blade typical of Confederate manufacture (edge removed), brass cross-guard with acorn finials and stag-horn grip with nickel-silver pommel-cap and amateur produced possibly period leather scabbard, the last also typical of Confederate manufacture with 9in. fullered spear-point blade cut down from a sword, crude iron cross-guard and ferrule, antler grip with iron pommel-plate in a period amateur produced leather scabbard with embossed decoration and initialled 'J. C.', the reverse with an old gummed paper label stating 'MISSUS COOPER GAVE THIS KNIFE. HER GRANDADDY HAD IT AT KENTUCKY 100 YEARS AGO',
