circa 1800, possibly converted from a duelling pistol, with octagonal, sighted 7in. barrel, the top flat signed 'MORTIMER, LONDON' (feint), platinum line and vent to breech, martial trophy engraved to top-tang, bevel-edged slightly curved lockplate with stepped tail, signed 'MORTIMER' forwards of the hammer, sliding safe behind the hammer, roller frizzen (top of frizzen chipped), walnut full-stock with chequered bag-shaped grip, clipped corner rectangular escutcheon to wrist, set trigger, two take-down wedges and possible original ramrod (frozen), exposed iron surfaces darkly stained, some pitting to barrel
