circa 1800, with round 3in. turn-off barrels (frozen), false rifling to the muzzle, slab-sided border and scroll engraved boxlock action signed 'BALL' in an oval on the left-hand side, sliding safe to the top-tang, two position tap lever mounted on the left hand side of action, top-jaw and screw missing from hammer, slab-sided plain walnut butt, iron trigger-guard, London proofs, lightly discoloured throughout
