A FINE, CASED PAIR OF 32-BORE FLINTLOCK HOLSTER-PISTOLS OF SMALLER THAN USUAL SIZE, no visible serial numbers,
probably for a boy, circa 1790, with re-browned octagonal, slightly swamped 8in. sighted barrels, the top-flats signed in script 'D. EGG LONDON', hooked breeches with engraved top-tangs, gold-lined touch-holes, flat, slightly curved step-tailed border line engraved lockplates signed 'D. EGG' forwards of the hammers, sliding safes behind the hammers, semi-rainproof pans, walnut half-stocks with dot and diamond chequered bag-shaped butts, engraved iron butt-caps with rear tails (shrinkage splits to pommels), engraved iron trigger-guard bows, water-melon finials, silver forend caps and brass-mounted wood ramrods, TOGETHER WITH a period walnut travelling case refitted and lid re-lined with green baize in the continental fashion for these pistols and containing a red moroccan leather covered period three-way flask and a scissors ball mould
