A GOOD, CASED 16-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN, no visible serial number,
circa 1850, with expertly re-browned triple-staged 31in. barrels, the top-flat signed 'D. EGG, LONDON' (rubbed), nickel bead fore-sight, scroll engraved hooked breech-block with silver lines and plug, long scroll engraved top-tang, scroll and game-bird engraved back-action lock signed 'D. EGG', scroll engraved dolphin-headed hammer, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist with rectangular escutcheon forwards of the comb, iron scroll engraved furniture, nickel take-down wedge escutcheons and fore-end cap, original brass-mounted ebony ramrod, TOGETHER WITH a period, probably the original trunk-style storage case lined in maroon velvet (lid padded), with numerous compartments for accessories and including a reproduction flask and original nipple-key (lid broken and detached, parts present)
