A .577 (SNIDER) BREECH-LOADING SERVICE-RIFLE, UNSIGNED, MODEL 'NEW ZEALAND CONTRACT TWO-BAND', serial no. 418,
British made, with 30 3/4in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, ladder rear-sight, breech-body stamped 'N.Z' bisected with a broad arrow, side-hinged breech-block, plain military-style lock stamped with a Victorian crown cypher, walnut three-quarter stock with brass furniture, iron barrel-bands and original iron clearing rod, muzzle with bayonet lug (some pitting to exposed surfaces)
