A FINE SILVER-MOUNTED POWDER-HORN,
mid 18th century, probably German or Swiss and of goat-horn, approximately 10in. overall, of flattened cross-section, the body carved with a hunter in 18th century costume shooting chamois in a woodland setting with mountains in the background, the tip of the flask carved in the image of a sea-monster,the nozzle of banded iron (stopper missing), the back carved with a shell design, the base formed from silver with an indented edge, border engraved and hallmarked and maker stamped (possibly Munich, 1756) and two iron suspension loops to the front
