SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 3/4 choke, rounded bar action, carved percussion fences, slender toplever, action flats with Purdey and Scott patent marks (Purdey 1863 patent double bite, patent no. 1104 and Scott 1865 toplever and spindle patent, no. 2752, use number 1736), rebounding sidelocks, fine beaded border and acanthus scroll engraving, brushed bright finish overall, 13 3/4in. figured stock (repaired crack at hand) with steel heel and toe plates, fore-end with grip-catch release lever, weight 6lb. 6oz., in its brass-cornered leather case with some accessories.
