with heavy two-stage blued barrel signed 'J. STEVENS A & T CO. CHICOPEE FALLS MASS USA, PAT APR 17 94', no provision for open sights fitted with an unsigned 20 1/2in. blued steel telescopic sight of approximately four-power with fine plain cross-wire, dove-tailed blued steel mounts, the front adjustable for windage on two screws and mounted with a nickel fore-sight blade, the rear adjustable for elevation on two screws, the top of the telescope mounted with an elevating buckhorn rear-sight, brass objective lens cover and blued steer ocular lens cover, colour-hardened receiver, the sides, top and top-tang engraved with American scrolls, blued breech-block and hammer, semi-pistol-grip 'schutzen-style' chequered butt-stock, plastic chequered heel-plate embossed with the Stevens trademark, colour-hardened finger-lever, chequered walnut schnabel fore-end and much original finish remaining TOGETHER WITH its English market oak case, compartmented and lined in green baize (some mothing)
