28in. replacement nitro barrels (in 1975 by another), ribs engraved 'WILLIAM POWELL & SON. 35 CARR'S LANE. BIRMINGHAM.' and gold-inlaid '1' and '2', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, sidelever actions with fluted fences, removable striker discs, automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, best fine scroll engraving, brushed bright finish overall, 15 1/2in. figured stocks (No. 2 with insert repair to right overhorn), including 1in. wooden extension (No.1) and 1 3/4in. wooden extension (No.2), No.1 fore-end wood with repair, weight 6lb. 10oz. (No.1) and 6lb. 8oz. (No.2), with their original lightweight leather motor case (stocks currently too long to fit following fitting of extensions )
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this pair of shotguns were completed with 30in. barrels in September 1899 for Sidoro de Urzaiz of Madrid.
