circa 1760, with swamped 9in. iron barrel (pitted and cleaned) signed on the top-flat 'P. GANDON, LONDON', border line engraved sighting plane, applied white-metal boat-shaped fore-sight, London proofs and makers mark 'PG' within an oval to the breech, banding and scroll engraving at the breech-end, solid engraved top-tang, border line carved and radiused lockplate signed 'P. GANDON', bridled rain-proof frizzen and pan with drain, border and scroll engraved hammer with broad sliding safe behind, walnut full-stock with tear-drops behind the plates and shell carving around the top-tang, silver rococco escutcheon (vacant), unusual silver short-tailed butt-cap relief embossed with martial and musical devices, the centre with a plumed hat and sabre, full pierced martial sideplate with a central cannon, iron trigger-guard and tang (worn, some loss to detail) and iron ramrod throat and thimble (missing ramrod)
