RIGBY & CO.' in gothic script, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening, 14 1/4in. boldly-figured pistolgrip stock, finely inset at the hand with a silver scrolling banner inscribed 'PER MARE PER TARRAS', carved horn pistolgrip-cap, acanthus scroll engraved sling button, chequered steel buttplate, with 3 1/2in. elongated oval blank white metal escutcheon, fore-end with cross pin release and finely carved horn finial, weight 9lb. 9oz.
