A FINE CASED 16-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN IN THE CATALAN STYLE, no visible serial number,
dated for 1846, with browned 33 1/4in. barrels inlaid at the breech with panels of silver scroll-work, the top-rib and breech-ends signed 'LU EYBAR POR FRANCISCO BARRENECHEA ANO 1846' (some losses to inlay), silver fore-sight set within a silver arrow, engraved patent breeches, engraved polished miquelet-style percussion locks with chased and engraved external mainsprings, carved and engraved hammers and engraved lockwork, walnut half-stock with Catalan-style fluted butt, bright polished engraved iron furniture, scrolled grip to rear of trigger-guard bow, feathered masked urn finial and brass-tipped wood rammer TOGETHER WITH a period mahogany case with brass re-inforced corners, lined in plum velvet in the English fashion with a number of period accessories including a shot bandolier, cow-horn powder-flask and snail capper
