Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that these guns were completed in July 1905 for a G.P. Dewhurst, and that the barrels were replaced by them in December 1936. The vendor kindly informs us that the guns have been in the care of his family since new.
Literature: Whilst they do not accompany this Lot, we have kindly been given access to the family's game books dating from 1884 to 1923. Apart from being a fascinating record of the period, they show the guns being put to good use on many fine estates and in particular on Welsh grouse. It is of interest to note just how many birds the Welsh sporting estates supported in the first quarter of the 20th Century with some very good bags being taken.
