circa 1801, with re-browned 10in. octagonal rifled barrels, the top-flats signed in gold 'MANTON, LONDON', silver fore-sight, dove-tailed notch rear-sight, twin gold lines at breech, gold lined touch-hole, flat, border engraved locks signed 'MANTON' (colour renewed), sliding safes behind the hammers, roller bearings to the frizzen springs, walnut half-stocks with chequered bag-shaped grips, silver oval escutcheons to the wrists engraved with a serpent emerging from a crown, engraved iron trigger-guards and finials, applied under-ribs and original wood rammers with horn tips
