circa 1900. with blued tapering 28in. barrel, dovetail fore-sight, elevating notch and ladder rear-sight, plain blued receiver with tear-drop cocking indicator and thumb-rest, the left hand side signed 'ARMY & NAVY C.S.L. LONDON' together with the serial number, figured walnut straight-hand butt-stock with chequered wrist and plain iron heel-plate, colour-hardened short finger-lever, chequered splinter fore-end with horn tip and fitted with eyelets for sling, the whole retaining much original finish, but with some powdery surface corrosion and bruising to wood
