circa 1871, with 2 1/2in. octagonal barrel, the left hand side of breech stamped 'BROWN MFG CO. NEWBURYPORT MASS, PAT APR 9 1869' (feint in places), the top flat of barrel stamped 'SOUTHERNER', brass boxlock action with central hammer, smooth flat based rosewood grips and stud-trigger, TOGETHER WITH a possibly associated wood box lined in blue baize with provision for six rounds of ammunition.
