30in. nitro reproved damascus barrels, rib engraved 'J. PURDEY. 314 1/2 OXFORD STREET. LONDON.' (indistinct), 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, incorporating Purdey first pattern thumbhole underlever (triggerguard a replacement without thumbhole), carved percussion fences, elongated top strap, rebounding back-action locks with dolphin hammers, border and acanthus scroll engraving, brushed finish, 14 1/2in. replacement stock including buttplate, weight 6lb. 13oz.

Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this shotgun was completed 1864 with 30in. barrels for a Mr. A. Pepys.
