25 3/8in. nitro reproved barrel (smoothbored to .410, likely from .360 Express), partially turned to round from octagonal, 2 1/2in. chamber, breech marked with action number 315, left hand flat lock with rear bolted dolphin hammer, border and scroll engraving (some pitting), fore-end with horn finial and cross key grip (loose), 14 1/4in. figured pistolgrip stock (damage at toe and each side of loading gate), steel pistolgrip-cap, sling eye and steel buttplate, weight 4lb. 1oz.
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this rifle was completed as a 'best quality' in .360 calibre for Lord Kennedy.
Research has not established which member of the family the records refer to. However, it would have been Lord Kennedy, Earl of Cassilis whose family seat was a Cassilis House in Ayrshire.
