A SCARCE .28 PERCUSSION DOUBLE-ACTION POCKET REVOLVER, 'FIRST MODEL', serial no. 17,
circa 1858, with 3in. octagonal barrel, bead fore-sight, plain cylinder with engraved band around the leading edge and star-burst engraving around the nipple apertures, florally engraved iron frame with central hammer, the hammer signed 'ELLS PATENT' on the left hand side and 'AUG 1 1854' over 'APRIL 28 1857' on the right, two-piece smooth walnut semi-birdshead grip and sheet iron trigger-guard, the whole with traces of original finish
