A .450 (3 1/4 EX) SINGLE-SHOT SPORTING RIFLE MODEL '1885 HIGH-WALL', serial no. illegible,
circa 1890, with heavy round slightly tapering 30in. barrel, the top signed 'MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. USA.' together with the calibre, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, Winchester express style rear-sight with one fixed and two folding leaves, plain high-wall action, central hammer, the top-tang fitted with a 'Lyman' micro-adjustable peep-sight, walnut straight-hand butt-stock, the right hand side amateurly carved with 'J. A . STEVENS' over 'V HANOVER.' and fitted with an iron 'shotgun' heel-plate, splinter fore-end with inlaid ebony tip (refinished throughout)
