A CASED PAIR OF 32-BORE PERCUSSION OVERCOAT PISTOLS, no visible serial number,
circa 1800, converted from flintlock by drum and nipple, with octagonal 6in. barrels, the top-flats signed 'OXFORD', bead fore-sights, standing notch rear-sights to the engraved top-tangs, engraving and gold line at breech ends, flat, slightly curved border engraved locks signed 'SYKES & SON', martial trophy and sliding safes to the tails (one safe incomplete), scroll engraved hammer (one missing), hammer screws replaced, walnut half-stocks with chequered bag-shaped butts, vacant rectangular escutcheons to the wrists, scroll engraved iron trigger-guards, ebony fore-end caps and original brass-tipped ramrods (one pistol also missing its under-barrel rib, both thimbles present but detached) TOGETHER WITH their original mahogany storage case, compartmented and lined in green baize (some compartments loose) and retaining a copper-bodied period flask
