28in. nitro chopperlump barrels, ribs engraved 'HENRY ATKIN (FROM PURDEY'S) 41 JERMYN ST. LONDON. S.W. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL', and gold-inlaid '1' and '2', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, some pits;
28in. new nitro chopperlump barrels, London proofed 1981, ribs gold-inlaid '1' and '2', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 (No.1) and 3/4 and 1/4 (No.2), Purdey / Beesley patent self-opening actions with removable striker discs, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, gold arrow cocking-indicators, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, the undersides engraved 'HENRY ATKIN FROM PURDEY'S', brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 15in. figured stocks, minor setting cracks to rear of lockplates, including 1in. ventilated rubber recoil pads, weight 6lb. 11oz., in individual leather leg of mutton cases, the new barrels in their original brass-cornered oak and leather double case with blue baize interior and gold-tooled Henry Atkin trade label

Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this pair of shotguns were completed with 28in. barrels in 1907 for a D.A. Lawson.
