A RARE .451 PERCUSSION SINGLE-SHOT RIFLE, MODEL 'WHITWORTH TURKISH TRIALS CONTRACT, no visible serial number,
dated for 1865, with Whitworth rifled 33in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, the top of barrel marked 'WHITWORTH PATENT' at breech, plain military style lock signed 'BSA CO.1865' at tail with a Sultans Tughra signature forwards of the hammer, dark walnut three-quarter stock with brass furniture and iron heel-plate, two blued steel barrel-bands and iron ramrod, much original finish throughout

Other Notes: The tughra is probably that of Sultan Abdülhamid of the Ottoman Empire. The engraving makes it difficult to be certain but it could read 'Mahmud Khan's son, Abdülhamid is forever victorious'.
