24 1/4in. unsighted nitro barrel, engraved 'JOHN RIGBY & CO. LONDON. W1.' in gothic script, the receiver (with thumb cutout) mounted with a Schmidt & Bender 4x36 telescopic sight, floorplate with military style release, pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece and monte carlo comb, sling eyes, 14 1/4in. pull including 3/4in. rubber recoil pad, in a Universal case, together with a quickly-detachable Harris bi-pod and 131 rounds of Norma .270Win. ammunition
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this rifle was completed in .270 calibre in September 1969.
The vendor has kindly informed us that he had Rigby's remove the open sights and fit the Schmidt & Bender sight in 1982. He subsequently had them completely refurbish the rifle in 1986, slightly shortening the stock, re-chequering the grip and fore-end and had a gold oval fitted. The Harris bi-pod was fitted in 2000.
