dated 1886, matching numbers throughout, 31 3/4in. barrel with block-mounted blade fore-sight, rear-sight with ladder calibrated up to 1,400 metres, octagonal nocks form marked with various Imperial German acceptance marks, stamped 'ERFURT' surmounted by a crown, also marked FW surmounted by a crown for Frederick Wilhelm, King of Prussia, action sidewall marked 'I.G. MOD. 71/84' in gothic script, magazine cut-off, (original firing pin and ejector slide collar are broken, reproduction replacements are included though yet to be correctly fitted) straight-hand stock (cracked through and repaired at hand), buttplate tang marked with regimental markings indicating 24th Division Infantry Regiment.
