Other Notes: The earlier version of the Model 1891 had a cylindrical bolt sleeve, a straight bolt handle, the extractor located at right angles to the ejector slot in the bolt head, no magazine lock screw and a short upper hand guard, whereas the later version had horizontal guide wings added to the bolt sleeve, a bent bolt handle, the extractor positioned slightly further round the rim of the bolt head, a magazine lock screw and a longer upper hand guard. This example, however, has the cylindrical bolt sleeve, straight bolt handle and short upper hand guard of the earlier version, combined with the re-positioned extractor and magazine lock screw of the later version.
