30in. nitro chopperlump barrels (London proofed 2005), tubes engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. LONDON. ENGLAND', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke in both, self-opening action with rounded bar, removable striker discs, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, retaining virtually full original colour-hardening and finish, 15 3/8in. very highly-figured stock, weight 5lbs. 13oz. (28in.) and 6lbs. 3oz. (30in.)., in its brass-cornered oak and leather case with provision for both sets of barrels, canvas outer and full complement of Purdey accessories
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this shotgun was completed August 2004 with 28in. barrels and that they subsequently built an additional pair of 30in. barrels in March 2005.
