26in. nitro reproved chopperlump barrels (converted from .350NE in 1979), matt sight rib engraved 'J. RIGBY & CO. 43 SACKVILLE STREET. LONDON. W. LATE ST. JAMES STREET' in gothic script, tubes engraved 'CAL. 9.3X74R REGULATED FOR 285G BULLET', open sights and two folding leaf sights with silver inlaid sighting lines and marked for 100, 300 and 400 yards, ramp-mounted bead fore-sight, elongated treble-grip action with removable striker discs, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, border engraving, retaining some colour-hardening and finish, 14 3/4in. highly-figured pistolgrip stock with sling eyes, steel pistolgrip-cap and partially chequered steel buttplate, bolstered fore-end with grip-catch release, weight 9lb. 5oz., in its brass-cornered canvas and leather case with some accessories and sighting target
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this double rifle was completed in 1924 as a 'C-Class hammerless ejector' with 26in. barrels and was supplied to Manton & Co. of Calcutta.
