circa 1840, comprising of a Mariette's patent pepperbox revolver and a single-shot boxlock pocket pistol, the first of 100-bore with five turn-off damascus barrels, Liege proofs to the breech-block, rounded scroll engraved iron action, fluted walnut grips with flatterned spire pommel, double-action ring trigger with under-hammer firing, the second of 40-bore with round 1 5/8in. turn-off barrel, boxlock central-hammer action signed 'ABBEY, BEDFORD' and engraved with trophies, slab-sided walnut butt, starburst engraved trigger-guard bow, Birmingham proofs, both pistols cleaned of finish and lightly stained TOGETHER WITH a banded mahogany travelling case specifically fitted for these pistols, the inner lid bearing a trade label for 'C. FISHER FROM MANTONS, GUNMAKER, 8 PRINCES STREET, LEICESTER SQUARE, LONDON' and containing a host of accessories including two scissor ball-moulds, a powder flask, turn-off key, cap box, loading rod and 'C' spanner.
