Continental, probably Belgian circa 1860, with octagonal micro-grooved rifled steel 8 1/2in. barrel, blade fore-sight, notch rear-sight, scroll engraved tang, bar-action lock with borderline and leaf engraving to front and tail, hammer en-suite with lock, walnut half-stock with chequered grip, scroll engraved steel 'winged' side-plate, flared butt with reeded edge, domed iron grip-cap, spurred trigger-guard, set trigger, shell carving to fore-end tip, no provision for ramrod, white-metal escutcheons to take-down wedge (iron surfaces stained, inlet repair left hand side of fore-end)
