A .577 (SNIDER) BREECH-LOADING SINGLE-SHOT CARBINE, MODEL 'MKII ARTILLERY', no visible serial number,
dated for 1871, with 20in. sighted barrel, flip-open breech stamped with an 'L.S.A.C.' monogram, plain military-type lock signed 'BSA Co 1871' and stamped with a 'VR' crown cypher to the tail, walnut half-stock, the left side of butt stamped 'DC' within a diamond-shaped border, brass furniture, iron barrel-band and no provision for clearing rod
